Information The smithy with its impressive hammer and power station are built a hundred years apart – 1799 and 1899. They both got power from the water which flows nearby. Nice walking path.

Information There has been a mill here since the 15th century, but the one standing now was built in the middle of the 19th century. Many a 100 kilo bag of flour has been filled and carried here. Today there is a mill museum and a restaurant/café.

Information Malla Löwenhielm wanted to show future generations her home – the home of the factory owner. An insight into what was once family life here - everyday and on special occasions – is displayed in the manor house, where occasional dramatisations are also held.

Information Beautifully located homestead by Strömsholm canal, which has a lock and a guest harbour. Malla Löwenhielm’s manor house remains. A coffee shop with a glass-enclosed veranda, a shop and a small theme park for children.

Information This castle, dating from the 16th century, has gardens and parks which throughout the centuries have been shaped by its royal owners according to the latest fashion trends of the time. The area is now a nature reserve.

Information Two apartments show how the miners lived in 1898 and 1963, respectively. The houses had been built after an English model when Grängesberg expanded towards the end of the 19th century and the workers needed tolerable housing.

Information A museum which is unique of its kind in Europe and with few like it in the world. The printing works was founded in 1890 and had its heyday in the 1920's and -30's, which is when the clock stopped here.

Information The museum covers the story of Christopher Polhem’s work in Stjärnsund. Parts of his mechanical alphabet – the wooden models he made which show how different transformations of movement can be achieved – are available to visitors.

Information The building stands over a 114 meter deep shaft. The chain of connected power rods, which pumped water from the mine, is still in working order. Mining tools and a collection of minerals are on display.

Information Railway history can be seen in the railway yard and engine shed in the form of a large collection of vehicles; six steam locomotives and the only turbo-locomotive in the world fit for driving (no. 71 litt M3t), built in 1939, the same year as the engine shed.

Information Private museum with several sections in the mining village of Bro. Adjacent is a café and an old-fashioned general store. The oldest parts are from the end of the 18th century. The old railway hub of Storvik is worth a visit.

Information The artist Ecke Hedberg's home and studio in a rebuilt blacksmith's home which was part of Kungsfors' works. Beautiful setting near the river Jädraån. Coffee and home-made cakes.

Information The history of the iron works from early 15th century to the 1880’s. Sweden’s most modern sheet metal rolling mill stood here in the early 19th century. The name Kloster stands for top quality to this day, and is used by the steel companies of Långshyttan.

Information The Strömsholm canal, which was rebuilt in the 1780’s, has its own museum beautifully located by lake Dammsjön, near canal and locks. Children’s theme park. Walking paths in pleasant park surroundings.

Information Johan Ahlbäck was the workers’ painter and found his subjects within the iron industry, for instance the rolling-mill in Smedjebacken. His expressive art can be seen at the library and in Gamla Meken.
