Information Medium heavy and light rolling mills from 1885 which supplied steel to the razor blade manufacturer Gillette. A historic environment, where little has changed since the closure in 1933. Art exhibitions of high quality in the summer.

Information An intact workshop! Around the turn of the last century, 33 people worked here, making items such as graters and snuff boxes from bought-in metal. Up until 1983 it was possible to have your copper pots polished and repaired here.

Information Iron handling traditions are maintained in Forsbacka in the new rolling mill from 1963, situated about 700 meters north of the original ironworks. The company manufactures for example grinding balls for the mining industry.

Information
The oldest preserved oil refinery in the world was built here on the island in 1875 and gave Central Sweden paraffin and lubricating oils for 50 years. The crude oil came from the United States. Who the founder was as a person, is cause for speculation.

Information The blast furnace, fired with charcoal, was in operation until 1959. In the 17th century, iron works, saw and flour-mill were all located down by the falls. Today, the large slag heap is a site of cultural importance.

Information Copper ore was mined, and copper produced, here from the Middle Ages until the 1870’s. Slag heaps dominate the area, and are clearly visible, as slag makes the soil sterile, allowing no vegetation to grow.

Information: A museum which is unique of its kind in Europe and with few like it in the world. The printing works was founded in 1890 and had its heyday in the 1920's and -30's, which is when the clock stopped here.

Information:
The smithy with its impressive hammer and power station are built a hundred years apart – 1799 and 1899. They both got power from the water which flows nearby. Nice walking path around the area.

Information: Hofors is worth a visit. Its long tradition of industry is visible everywhere. The industry housing between the streets Storgatan and Västra Parkgatan was designed by Cyrillus Johansson and built in 1918-21. The manor from 1802 is near Norra Porten, the northern gate.

Information: The smithy, with hammer and water wheel, is strategically located by the canal and has been restored thanks to non-profit contributors. The large, well preserved coal building is located on the slope nearby and there is a charring stack on the other side of the canal.

Information:
Restored smithy where occasionally bar iron is still made for visitors to see. A water wheel operates a seven ton heavy smelting-hammer. The themed iron day on the first Saturday of July every year is a big occasion.
