Information Vingesbacke was the last iron ore mine in operation in Torsåker. Ore was discovered in 1945, and mining started in 1956. The mine was closed down in 1980.

Information Limestone quarry from the 18th century, which was mined until the middle of the 20th century. Today the 500 meter long, 20-30 meter wide and 25-30 meter deep open cast mine is filled with water.

Information From the hill crest between the now water filled pits, traces of fire-setting which made the hill sides even and rounded, are visible. The mines are very old, from long before the 17th century.

Information Two apartments show how the miners lived in 1898 and 1963, respectively. The houses had been built after an English model when Grängesberg expanded towards the end of the 19th century and the workers needed tolerable housing.

Information The Storberget mine, with its 265 meter long gallery from the end of the 18th century, may be the most fascinating of all sights of this region.

Information Silver was originally, during the Middle Ages, mined in Stollberg, also home to a State demesne. Later, iron, zinc and lead were extracted. This is one of the most mineral rich places in the country. From the lichen, the view goes on for miles.

Information In 1841, ore was found near the village Hienshyttan, and the finding became crucial for Långshyttan’s development as an iron works, which has been turned into a steel industry still in operation today.

Information The canal supplied water to the water wheel, which operated power rods used for the pumps in the mine over a kilometer away. The wheel was built in 1876 and used until 1920. Christoffer Polhem was the man who developed a German principle for power transmission.

Information Mining, with ropeways, mud and ore refining works, power station and housing, is all in the past. Today the nature and the view over lake Väsman from the top of the hill Lekomberget are the main attractions.

Information An iron ore and limestone mining field from the early 14th century. Traces of old-day fire-settings as well as more modern dynamite explosions are visible in the open-cast mines and galleries. The area became a nature reserve in 2008.

Information The mine was closed down in 1989 but the mining area, with buildings and pithead frames, remains. Today there is a visitors’ centre in the miners’ old canteen Mojsen.

Information The mine, with several pits and an underground gallery, is open to visitors and offers guided tours, including ones for children, starting at Gruvstugan. Old fashioned café open during summer.

Information Sir Ernest Cassel, the owner of Grängesberg mine, donated this Greek-inspired temple in 1900 to the miners. Cassels stands proudly over the mining area and is today a well-known concert hall.

Information The mine was in operation between the 1930's and 1973. The 47 meter hight shaft head and the other buildings above ground are built in the typical functional style of the time. Today the mine is used as a whisky warehouse.

Information In the middle of this wooded area is one of the most mineral rich places in the world, attracting many collectors and researchers. A winding gear can still be found in its original place.

Information Explore 300 years in four kilometers, from the ruins of the first iron works, through the history of metallurgy, to the last works, closed in 1922. Schisshyttan manor used to be a centre for iron research.

Information The building stands over a 114 meter deep shaft. The chain of connected power rods, which pumped water from the mine, is still in working order. Mining tools and a collection of minerals are on display.
