Information Mining village with factory and two hammers along the river Wijbyggeån. The old factory was referred to for the first time in 1541, but is probably considerably older.

Address:	Västansjö north of Sunnansjö in the Grangärde area. " Hyttan" is situated just after junction from Västansjövägen towards Norsån and Dammsjön.

Information Probably the oldest preserved smelting house in this part of Bergslagen - from the 1600's. It was closed in 1885 and restored in 1998.

Information An old homestead farm which is now a hotel, restaurant and spa. A favourite spot with a warm atmosphere. Good and honest food. Art exhibitions and antiques.

Information Torsåker's last ironworks; operation ceased in the 1890's. The ruins from the furnace and the hammer forge make an attractive monument of the past.

Information The old mining village of Söderbärke has a church and a homestead museum and is located by the sound between the lakes Barkensjöarna. The museum offers exhibits such as naïvist wooden sculptures by a local artist, as well as a summer café. Annual market "Möljan" in July.

Information Stimmerbo is a well preserved mining village. The smelting-house is rebuilt and is now a lime furnace, however the area around it has been demolished. The neighbouring village of Torrbo, where author Verner Aspenström was born, was home to the local shop. The villages were in close co-operation with each other.

Information One of the most beautiful old works in Gästrikland with a furnace ruin and other remains. The original works was built in the 1540's.

Information Five mining villages are spread around the area where the iron works was once located, in the middle of the village of Olsbenning. A few kilometers away another iron works, in operation during the 12th century, is today a sight of historic importance. The village served as a model for Nya Lapphyttan.

Information A reconstructed Middle Age works village. Iron trials using Middle Age methods are conducted in the blast furnace during the month of July. Information is displayed in Berghuset. A small mine, with pithead frame and gallery, is available for children to explore.

Information Authentic bergsman (a farmer with permission to mine and found iron) setting. Herbal garden. Mining museum with old, still working, power rods. Small animals for children. Coffees and cakes. Large flea-market on Saturdays throughout the summer.

Information The well-kept timber smelting-house is still standing, on its own by the stream. An overgrown garden nearby shows signs of house foundations, shrubs and trees. This was a collectively owned iron works and home to many people.

Information A well preserved and easily accessible smelting-house with original furnaces, surrounded by mining farms. It was in operation until 1920. Good spot for picnics.

Information A mill from 1865, built on the foundation of an old forge from 1656. Two exhibitions and a village museum.

Information The church village of Grangärde, almost entirely enclosed by lakes, was very central when rock and iron were transported on the waterways. The 15th century church became the centre for Ludvika and surrounding areas.

Information Ironworks from 1571 which was closed down in the 1690's. The river Gavelhytteån later became a fairway for iron products and timber. A lock was built by Gavelhyttan in 1869.

Information A market grew around the river during the Middle Ages and the oldest parts of the church are from the 14th and 15th century. Buildings from the 17th century can also be found here. Engelbrekt, leader of the farmers and well known for his insurrection in the 1430’s, which led to the king being dethroned, was born in Norberg in around 1390.

Information A unique smelting-house with its roots in the 14th century. Machinery and tools remain, and a walking path has photographs of life here in 1915. Operation ceased in 1918.

Information This unique farm in Bråfors village became Västmanland province’s first culture reserve in 2006. The farm is privately owned by the family that has lived here for six generations. Coffees and cakes for visitors.

Information A mining farm run by Brukshistoriska Föreningen, the mining history society. The farm has a preserved log smelting-house and a smithy, where trying the art of forging is popular with visitors.
